Chana Daal Masala



Chana dal masala is also called Kadle palya.
I remember having it as prasadam in temples.

This dish is very simple to prepare and can be easily prepared in large qualities. May be thats the reason its normally served as prasadam.

Ingredients:
1. Chana dal - 1 cup
2. Mustard - 1 tsp
3. Jeera - 1/2 tsp
4. Green Chilly - 2
5. Fresh coconut grated - 1 tbsp
6. Curry leaves - 5
7. Oil - 1 tsp
8. Coriander

Preparation:
1. Soak the chana dal in water for 6 hrs or overnight.
2. Wash the dal and pressure cook(2 whistle) the dal.
3. Allow to cool down and then drain all the water.
4. Heat oil, add mustard and jeera.
5. When mustard start spluttering add, curry leaves and cut chilly.Fry
6. Add grated coconut and fry for 1 min.
7. Add the cooked dal and coriander.
8. Mix well.

The chana masala tastes yummy as side order along with pooris and rotis.
